Optimising the Operative Field
Visualisation during endoscopic sinus surgery can be challenging at times due to inflamed mucosa and excess bleeding. Poor visualization can result in increased surgical difficulty, increased operative time, and higher risk of complications. Technological advances have allowed a significant improvement in visualization, and various measures can also be undertaken pre- and intra-operatively to reduced bleeding. These measures to optimize haemostasis and visualization in endoscopic sinus surgery will be reviewed.
